"The Dragon" At Deals Gap 2009 Official Thread...

The last couple of trips have been great! For anyone who loves to drive cars, the Dragon is the shiznet, like driving a roller coaster. The only thing out there I can think of that could be better is Nurburgring, and since that's too far away, there's "The Dragon"

This year we're looking to tag along and go when S2KI is going, April 23rd - 26th 2009, so there will be LOTS of cars! I'm going to run down our schedule from last year which seemed to work out awesome. We had lots to do and the driving was spaced out so it seemed to work perfect.

Friday...
Afternoon - Arrive in Raliegh, NC.
Evening - Go to the go cart track and then Gary's for dinner (or maybe the other way around, we'll figure it out). There's also going to be a bunch local guys there so it should be a nice size group. We'll try the drift cart track this year plan on $5 per session per person.

Saturday...
9am - Start to head out to Ashville, NC.
Lunchtime - Arrive at Ashville, get some food.
Afternoon - Drive the rest of the way out to Deals Gap by taking the Blue Ridge Parkway, almost as much fun as the Dragon!
Early Evening - Arrive at hotel and check in, go to Fontana Dam to get group car pictures.
Evening - Have dinner.

Sunday...
Before Noon - Head out to The Dragon!
Lunchtime - After a run down and back eat lunch.
Afternoon - Run The Dragon again. After that everyone is on their own, some people have to leave earlier than others to get home.

Costs...
Gas - I spent around $300 on gas, for me it was a 2,200 mile round trip. On the highway I did awesome on gas, 30+ mpg, but on the dragon I was killing gas The gas available at the Dragon was priced normal which was nice in case you needed gas right there.

Food - Plan on eating out every meal since we're stopping at restaurants everywhere. I've budgeted $10 for each meal each day as a good guess.

Hotel - At Deals Gap the hotel was around $90 a night if I remember right. If you just meet us at Ashville then go to the dragon you only have to worry about one night. If you meet us in Raliegh Friday we'll try and work something out.

Stuff - Plan on at least getting a cool sticker or T shirt while you're at the Dragon There's also photographers along the dragon that take pictures. www.killboy.com had the best shots of our group and charges $5 a picture to download them, definately worth it.

Official T-Shirt - We're going to have an official shirt for the meet with the meet logo on the back and the simple clubhonda logo on the front. The shirts will be black and full color front and back. Because they're full color and we're doing a small quantity the cost is $25 per shirt. If the cost ends up being less than that I'll refund the difference when I give you the shirts in person. I'm order the shirts April 1st so that there's no chance of them not being ready in time for the meet. I'm going to list the attendees below, just let me know if you want a shirt and what size. I'll write the size and number of shirts next to your name, if it's wrong let me know.

the drift track at frankies fun park? Not much, I think it's $5 a go around per person. Hell of alot of fun though! we'll have to go ahead and do it this time. Definitely not as fast as rush hour but there is alot more grinning once it is all said and done. I would just recommend that everyone holds on to their phones. I think last time I went with Gary we saw like 6 cell phones dropped and broken on the track. lol. There is a lot of bumping

word, the track we went to last time is fun but it all depends on whether or not you get a good cart. my cart last time sucked so much ass, ruined the fun. at least drifting it's fun no matter how fast the cart is, as long as it goes sideways

so it's $5 per session? that's not bad.

on S2KI they don't have any official info yet except for the dates, I'll keep checking.

last year me and Ant drove up on thursday and crashed at Eric's, that gave us an extra day to chill with the redneck really it's best if everyone meets up either Friday after lunch sometime or first thing Saturday. we really need to leave Saturday on time so we can take our time getting to Ashville for lunch. that will give us more time to play on the Blue Ridge and get out to robbinsville in time for some cool group pictures and dinner. last year we got a late start and that kinda owned our group shots and dinner was real late.
