Speaking of fuckdata, they may have something for Eric soon. Looks like they are using the stock ecu as a piggyback and using a tuneable ecu to control the engine functions. Think they have something ready for the TSX and another car.

Maybe the begining of the year, it is pricey though !

yeah, their stuff gets pricey quick when the systems get more complicated. to me their only worth it when they're far less expensive than the AEM EMS, get close to the cost of the EMS and it's not worth it.

You know now that you mention it and I actually think about, AEM sells a universal EMS so why wouldn't Eric be able to buy that and piggyback his stock ecu for dash controls and what not and use the AEM for engine control ?

The only real problem I can see is bypassing some sensors so they don't trip the CEL and a lot of dyno time being there won't be a basemap to start off of. Hmmmm......

the problem with AEM's universal setup is the cost of the wiring harness otherwise I believe it would still use the same basemap, I could be wrong though. there's probably an AEM EMS that Eric could use plug and play if he switches to a normal throttle body, dumb drive by wire crap.

Well he wouldn't be able to switch to a plug and play system either cause he would still need the stock ECU to control his speedo and dash functions.

Just looked on AEM's site and list price for the Universal is $2730 and the harness is $730 It is list price but it's still gonna be expensive. They want $2000 for K-DoDo.

yeah nothing freaking cheap. THe AEM FIC is actually supposed to be a pretty good system.

yeah they don't sell for anywhere near the retail but it's still pricey. the FIC is pretty cool and supposedly piggy-backs better than other systems because of how it works is a little different than other systems like the e-manage.

I don't know the FIC sounds promising but it still is a piggy back which makes me weary.

I contacted AEM yesterday to see when/if they will be releasing a plug and play system and they said not for a while, which is crap ! Eric you should contact Hondata and see when their system is coming. Since the have something for the TSX and S2000 it should be really soon. I would contact them but I fuckin hate them

yeah, piggy backs are never the ideal setup. AEM has a tech article you can download that explains how their FIC differs from other piggy backs and why they feel it's better, made sense when I read it.

it is gay how slow they are with adding more applications. all they have to do is make it plug in the factory ECU harness and build a startup map, can't be that hard for a big company. also with the drive by wire thing, they only have one ECU at the moment that works with drive by wire, the STI's ECU, why can't they make one for every other drive by wire car? I think part of the problem is that AEM doesn't actually make the ECU's. they're made by a British company and AEM rebrands and markets them. maybe AEM doesn't have a lot of say in what new products get delevoped.

I can't understand why they slack making anything for the Honda market being it's so huge. Getting the electronics ready shouldn't really be too much of a big deal, I think getting the code for everything takes the most time but like you said for a huge company it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Think someone in AEM needs to get their priorties straight

exactly, I could see being a little slow to make products for certain brands, but they should have a product for every honda / acura out there with the only possible exception being the SUV's.
